JINK Matter over Thread Official Hub Compatibility Technical Guide

I. Core Concept

What is a Thread Border Router?

Matter over Thread devices (such as JINK curtain motors) do not connect directly to Wi-Fi. They communicate via the Thread protocol with a "Border Router," which bridges the Thread network to your home local area network (LAN). Without these devices, JINK devices cannot be discovered or controlled by your mobile devices.

  • Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1: USB adapter for Raspberry Pi or NAS to enable Thread communication.

IV. FAQ & Configuration Tips

1. Can I control devices directly with my phone?

No. While iPhone 15 Pro and newer models have built-in Thread chips, they are primarily used for device discovery. For automation, remote access, and stable network coverage, a 24/7 powered Border Router (hub) is required.

2. Can multiple hubs coexist?

Yes. Matter supports Multi-Admin functionality. You can add JINK devices to both Apple Home and Aqara Home simultaneously; they will share the same Thread network and provide redundancy.

3. Placement Recommendations

To ensure optimal connection quality for JINK devices (e.g., curtain motors, driver units), place the hub in a central location or use multiple Thread-enabled devices to create a robust Mesh network in larger homes.
